I shouldn't wonder that you're tired after that detailing, it's tremendous. And lovely use of colour: the hair really shines (and suggests fifties-housewifey-heavy-hairspray to match the apron).

How do you thin your acrylics?

I start with a heavy body acrylic, as that is what I picked up when I bought them. I'm thinking about buying liquid acrylics, but the liquitex are a few dollars cheaper than the golden paints. I thin them with about 1 part retarder (since the short open time of acrylics scares me a little) to 3 parts paint, and add water until they are about half the viscosity. I cut them even further when I am actually painting -- down to about a cream consistency.

Chances are this technique will change as I get more confident with the media and I buy more stuff to futz with. I'm really looking forward to buying some glazing medium.
